TheMediterranean’sIronAgeperiodwasoneofitsmostdynamiceras.Stimulatedbythemovementofindividualsandgroupsonanunprecedentedscale,thefirsthalfofthefirstmillenniumBCEwitnessesthedevelopmentofMediterranean-widepractices,includingrelatedwritingsystems,commonfeaturesofurbanism,andsharedartisticstylesandtechniques,alongsidetheevolutionofwide-scaletrade.Together,thesecreatedanengaged,interlinkedandinteractiveMediterranean.WecanrecognisethisastheMediterranean’sfirsttrulyglobalisingera.ThisvolumeintroducesstudentsandscholarstocontemporaryevidenceandtheoriessurroundingtheMediterraneanfromtheeleventhcenturyuntiltheendoftheseventhcenturyBCEtoenableanintegratedunderstandingofthemulticulturalandsociallycomplexnatureofthisincrediblyvibrantperiod.
